A board game cafe built by people who never left the table
Next Move Cafe is a board game lounge in Brooklyn run by Sandy Yeung and JJ Lu. The idea was simple: a room designed for board games. Real tables, good light, drinks and snacks on site, and staff who will sit down and teach you the rules instead of handing you a rulebook.
What started as a shelf of games and a few folding tables is now 500+ titles, a full calendar of hobby game nights, monthly tournaments with cash prizes, and a Discord community that keeps playing between visits. We have since moved upstairs to the third floor at 2059 86th Street, with more room for tournaments, terrain boards and parties.

Sandy Yeung
Co-owner · front of house & parties
Runs the floor, holiday events and every party we host. If you are planning an event or you have never played anything heavier than Uno, ask for Sandy.

JJ Lu
Co-owner · game instructor & commission painter
A strategy game lover with a soft spot for area control and beautifully sculpted miniatures. JJ left a full-time career to work in the tabletop industry, and now teaches games, judges tournaments, and paints commissions at the back bench.
What we care about
Nobody sits out
Come alone and we will find you a table. Our Thursday learn-and-play night exists so solo players and total beginners always have a game.
Teaching is our job
Staff know the shelf. Tell us your group size, preferred complexity level, your mood and how long you have, and you will get a real recommendation followed by a real teach.
Competitive and casual share the floor
Tournament regulars and first-timers are both at home here. Different tables, same room, same door price.
The community runs on Discord
Game nights, pickup games, tournament pairings and commission progress all live in our Discord. It is free and open to anyone who walks in.
Come sit down
Open until midnight on weeknights, 1am Friday and Saturday.
